Crane Operator Classes Alberta - For the operators and the supervisors, new and current, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content addresses applicable provincial, state and federal safety regulations. The training's first component includes complete in-class lessons and exam. After that is a customized hands-on session along with practical lessons and assessment.

The content of the course applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting crane machinery. The instruction would particularly focus on all aspects of crane operation that could be carried out at the trainee's workplace. Upon completing the course, individuals training will know how to operate particular overhead lifting devices, related components and attachments safely and efficiently.

The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits that an operator might develop while operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products can be prevented with proper practices. Training lessens the possibility of a workplace incident or injury taking place.

The length of the course is eight hours of classroom instruction followed by a few hours of on-site, hands-on, customized training. Participants will be graded on their knowledge of training material via written testing and an evaluation of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.

In the in-class session, participants will learn applicable causes of damages and occurrences, guidelines and legislation, internal responsibility, danger awareness, design principles and basic equipment, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, safe hosting/operating techniques, pre-shift equipment inspections, equipment applications/rigging, kinds of hardware, angles and hitches, pedestrian/operator safety, hand signals for operators and slingers, flipping/turning loads safely.

The practical training and evaluation portion of the course should be pre-scheduled. This customized portion of the training would be held at the trainees' facility. The length of this practical training component is one to two hours. The instructor will train two operators at a time about skills like for example proper rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.

Upon finishing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee would write an exam. Signed safety rules would be needed from every participant. Trainees who are successful would be provided with individual wallet certificates. The company would be given a framed wall certificate.
