Wetaskiwin

Wetaskiwin play is a small city in the province of Alberta, Canada. The city is located 43 mi or 70 kilometres south of the provincial capital of Edmonton. The city name comes from the Cree word wi-taski-win-ispatinaw, that means "the hills where peace was made". Wetaskiwin's population based on its 2009 municipal census is 12,285.

The Reynolds-Alberta Museum can be located in the city of Wetaskiwin. This big museum is dedicated to the celebrating "the spirit of the machine." Moreover, the Wetaskiwin and District Heritage Museum houses documents about the pioneer arrival and lifestyle in Wetaskiwin's early years. Situated southeast of the city of Wetaskiwin, the Alberta Central Railway Museum acknowledges the effect which the railway had on central Alberta. Canada's Aviation Hall of Fame is likewise situated a short walk away from the museum.

Wetaskiwin sits on what was previously the coastline of the huge sea which covered a lot of Alberta Province millions of years ago. In the month of February 2009, the City of Wetaskiwin started the process of creating a Municipal Sustainability Plan. The project entitled "Wetaskiwin Tomorrow" is about obtaining views from those with an interest in Wetaskiwin on the kind of city which they would like to reside and work in for the next 20 or more years. Then, utilizing that feedback, a group of citizens would create a plan to present to City Council.

The Wetaskiwin Tomorrow plan, once it is accepted, will help to guide the city council when choices regarding the future of the city are made. The plan will help the city create a direction for the fields of business development, social services, cultural activities, and environmental protection.
